Cream of Wheat (FTDI)
Do you like cream of wheat? I grew up eating it and love it! However, it's not FTDI. SO, I had a great idea to mimic the texture, flavor, and look of it using FTDI ingredients! USE ROLLED OAT FLOUR! So, make oatmeal but instead of using whole oats, start with oat FLOUR (homemade oat flour of course). SOMETIMES JUST ALTERING THE TEXTURE, LOOK, CONSISTENCY, AND FLAVOR OF THE SAME EXACT INGREDIENTS REALLY KEEPS YOU GOING GOING GOING!!!! BE CREATIVE AND ENJOY YOUR JOURNEY TO HEALTH!
Cream of Wheat (FTDI)
MooMoo Jackson Style
Ingredients:
Homemade Oat Flour (any amount you want to make)
100% Natural Stevia
Ground Cinnamon
Water (3 times more than oat flour used)
Instructions:
1. Weigh your oat flour BEFORE you cook it so you know how many carb portions you'll have.
Note: Oats are the only FTDI food weighed BEFORE cooking.
Carb Portion Info: 2oz women, 3oz men. Only homemade Oat flour is FTDI (not store bought). To make oat flour simply put whole oats into a food processor until it is flour consistency.
2. Bring water to a boil in a sauce pan. Use 3 times MORE water than the amount of Oat flour you are using.
Example: If you are using 6oz of oat flour then use 18oz of water.
3. Once the water is boiling slowly whisk in the oat flour stirring constantly.
4. On medium heat allow the oat flour to cook until it is cream of wheat consistency. Stir it occasionally as it cooks.
5. Once it is cooked add Stevia and Cinnamon to taste. It should be a thick and runny consistency just like cream of wheat.
Portion Info: Remember how many carb portions you started out with when you weighed your oat flour before you cooked it. Split your cooked pot of cream of wheat into that many portions.
Example: If you started with 6oz oat flour then women would split their pot into 3 portions and men would split their pot into 2 portions. Do not weigh it cooked. Use the uncooked oat flour weight for portions.
**FEEL FREE TO ADD WHATEVER FTDI FLAVORS YOU LIKE TO YOUR CREAM OF WHEAT! MAKE SURE TO EAT THIS AS A CARB IN ONE OF YOUR FTDI MEALS. YOU'LL ALSO NEED TO EAT A PROTEIN AND VEGGIE PORTION AS WELL.**

RECIPE Q&A's:
Q: What kind of Oats should I use to make my Oat flour?
A: I used Rolled Oats to make mine but you can use any FTDI oats to make your Oat flour. Just remember that different types of Oats soak up water differently so if your cream of wheat isn't creamy enough you might need to adjust the water amount.
Q: Can I just use store bought Oat flour?
A: No. If you are FTDI you need to make your Oat flour by grinding whole raw oats in a food processor until they are flour consistency. See my how-to video above.
Q: How do I know how much Oat flour to start with?
A: You can chose how much oat flour you want to use. It depends on how many carb portions you want to make at one time. I use 6oz of Oat flour when I make mine and I split my pot into 3 portions once cooked (males would split that into 2 portions). Remember 2oz women, 3oz men and oats (or oat flour) are weighed BEFORE cooking!
Q: Can I use flavorings other than Stevia and Cinnamon in my Cream of Wheat?
A: Yes! You can use any flavoring that is FTDI (zero calories). Other ideas are Pumpkin Pie Spice, Apple Pie Spice, or Walden Farm's zero calorie fruit spreads or syrups (pancake syrup, chocolate syrup, blueberry syrup, or eve caramel syrup--all zero calories and FTDI).
Q: Is Cream of Wheat FTDI? A: NO! Regular Cream of Wheat from the box is NOT FTDI! However, this recipe is not real cream of wheat! It's just cooked Oat flour that mimics the taste, texture, and look of cream of wheat so this Cream of Wheat recipe IS FTDI!
