Protein Soft Serve Ice Cream (FTDI)

Seriously fantastic flavor and texture! You'll love it! Try it! :) PROTEIN ONLY! Eat this in place of your Protein Shake!

Note: This recipe works best with a strong, high tech blender such as a Vitamix....something that can easily handle blending ice with no problem. Otherwise it'll be chunky with ice pieces in it (but still tasty). The creamy, smooth, yummy texture will come with a strong blender.

Protein Soft Serve Ice Cream (FTDI)

MooMoo Jackson Style

Ingredients:

1 scoop MyoFX Protein Powder (flavor of your choice)

2 cups Ice CUBES (not crushed)

*1 tbsp Pure Vanilla Extract (see note below)

1 tbsp Water

*Note: Use Pure Vanilla Extract for all flavors EXCEPT Chocolate or Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Powder. For those 2 flavors use 1 tbsp Torani Chocolate Sugar Free Syrup (zero calories) for a really great chocolatey flavor! I get mine at Stater Bros in the coffee aisle.

Instructions:

1. In a strong blender such as a Vitamix or Ninja (for best results), pulse all ingredients together EXCEPT water just until it becomes broken up and chunky then stop it.

2. At that point add the 1 tbsp water and continue blending on high for a couple minutes until it is really creamy and thick. It should be soft serve or frozen yogurt consistency.

Note: Stop and scrape the sides down a couple times during the process to make sure everything gets combined well. Also, make sure to use your blender's tamper wand moving it around and around as you are blending to get all the ice blended well.

3. You can eat it straight out of the blender for a soft serve consistency OR you can scrape it all into a bowl and cover and freeze it for at least 30 minutes (or longer) to get a harder ice cream consistency then scoop it out with an ice cream scooper as you would do to real ice cream.

Portion Info: This recipe calls for one full scoop of Protein Powder so EAT THE WHOLE ENTIRE BATCH OF ICE CREAM IN ONE SITTING. Eat this in place of your Protein Shake/snack in between your full FTDI meals. Protein Powder scoop portions are determined by your own personal weight. See your FTDI Bible for details on scoop portions. If you're only supposed to have one scoop of Protein powder then this recipe will be one full Protein serving for you so consume it ALL.

If you're supposed to have 2 scoops of Protein Powder then you'll either need to double this recipe, eat this PLUS drink ANOTHER scoop of Protein Powder as an actual shake, OR eat this PLUS eat HALF of a portion solid protein from our FTDI Protein list (since this ice cream will be half your protein portion).

RECIPE Q&A's:

Q: Can I use a regular blender to make this recipe?

A: A regular blender might not be able to handle pulverizing 2 cups of ice into a soft serve ice cream consistency. If you're able to do it with a regular blender it might end up very chunky with lots of pieces of not fully blended ice....more like a slushy but it will still taste good! The best results come from using a stronger blender that can handle ice such as a Vitamix or a Ninja. Here's a picture of the Vitamix I use:

Q: How long can I freeze this ice cream for?

A: I've frozen mine for a couple weeks and it was still good!

Q: Is Torani Chocolate Sugar Free Syrup FTDI? Where can I buy it?

A: Yes! As long as it is a zero calorie condiment or drink it is FTDI. See your Condiments and Drinks page in you Camp Bible for info. I buy mine at Stater Brothers on the coffee aisle. Make sure it is SUGAR FREE and CALORIE FREE! Here is a picture of it:

Q: Are Walden Farms products FTDI? Where can I buy them?

A: Yes! As long as it is a zero calorie condiment it is FTDI. See your Condiments and Drinks page in you Camp Bible for info. I buy mine at Stater Brothers, Albertsons, Trader Joe's, Clark's Nutrition, Sprouts, other Whole Foods Stores, or online.

Q: Do the Walden Farms chocolate, caramel, strawberry, or blueberry syrup taste good?

A: Some say yes they're awesome and some say yuck! I personally like them in small amounts. If I drizzle a little bit on top of my ice cream it tastes good to me! Try for yourself if you'd like! It's optional though! Here's what they look like:

Q: Can I use Vegan Protein Powder for this recipe?

A: You can but it is more gritty than regular protein powder and it doesn't absorb the same so you might not get the soft serve ice cream texture but it'll taste good!

Q: What is Zevia? Is it FTDI? Where can I buy it?

A: Zevia is a zero calorie healthy "soda" made from Stevia Leaf, carbonated water, and natural flavors. It's not like diet soda because it doesn't have all the junk DIET soda has in it that screw's with our health (like aspartame). I buy mine at Stater Brothers in the soda aisle. I love to pour the Rootbeer or the Cola one on top of my FTDI Vanilla Protein Ice Cream! Here's a picture of them:
